Practice Focus
Since joining Sheehan Phinney Bass + Green more than 30 years ago, Alan has developed a strong client base in the area of ERISA, public and private pension plans. His reputation in the field has led to his regularly being asked to provide testimony before the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Financial Accounting Standards Board, and other regulatory agencies. He also frequently writes and presents in the area to professional organizations on a wide range of pension and corporate related topics. Alan currently is of counsel to the firm.

Alan has a lengthy list of legal and business organizations to which he belongs. Among these are: the New Hampshire and Massachusetts Bar Associations, the New Hampshire Bar Foundation (Fellow), the National Association of Public Pension Attorneys (Member and President), the International Society of Certified Employee Benefit Specialists (Charter Member), the Boston Security Analysts Society (Adjunct Member), The Center for Business Ethics at Bentley College, the National Association of Corporate Directors, the American Society of Corporate Secretaries, the International Corporate Governance Network, the Council of Institutional Investors, and the Pension Rights Center.
He is admitted to practice in New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
Community Involvement
Alan currently serves as President and Chair of the Executive Board of the National Association of Public Pension Attorneys. He was a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of Benefits Quarterly (1985-1999), and President and Chairman of the Board of the International Society of Certified Employee Benefit Specialists (1987-1988).
