(April 2, 2004. Manchester, NH) - Believing in a cause isn't the only thing that directors, officers, managers and members of tax-exempt organizations need to know. They also must stay on top of the latest regulations to ensure their exempt organization is run properly. On May 13, 2004, a distinguished group of attorneys from Sheehan Phinney Bass + Green will present an intermediate level seminar to address such issues as: employment; executive compensation and retirement plans; risk management; unrelated business income; fundraising, charitable giving and investment policies; the responsibilities of board members; and applying for and maintaining tax-exempt status.
The roster of presenters is comprised of Thomas Burack, who represents various not-for-profit organizations and has secured tax-exempt status for national, statewide and local organizations, and Alan Cleveland, who practices in the areas of pensions and ERISA, fiduciary and investment law, corporate governance and other matters affecting tax-exempt and nonprofit organizations. Joining them will be Bradford Cook, whose practice focuses in the areas of not-for-profit institutions, church law, education law, general corporate law and estate planning, and Sean Gorman, who previously worked in the General Counsel's Office at Dartmouth College where he dealt with a broad array of legal problems in a nonprofit context.
This National Business Institute seminar, which is also recommended for accountants and attorneys who deal with tax-exempt organizations, will take place at the Courtyard by Marriott & Grappone Conference Center, 70 Constitution Avenue, Concord, NH 03301. Registration begins at 8 a.m. with the program running from 8:30 to 4:40 p.m. The cost is $269 for the first registrant, $219 for each additional registrant.
